Dick and Mary Cabela Sustainable Use Area

How it all started

The Dick and Mary Cabela Sustainable Use Area, located at the 2,700-acre Boy Scouts of America Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, allows scouts to learn fundamental outdoor recreation and wildlife conservation skills.

"Philmont has inspired more than a million campers"
- Jim Ryffel

Influenced by Dick Cabela’s experiences as an Eagle Scout, the Dick and Mary Cabela Sustainable Use Area aims to help more than 3,500 youth each year connect with the outdoors and learn how important hunting is to conservation.
