Making a meaningful difference with IOTR...again!

When we shook hands with the International Order or T. Roosevelt, not only was a partnership formed, but a commitment to real conservation was made. Together, we said we wanted our alliance to be rooted in a making a difference through real conservation.

As you'll remember, we started off with a joint effort collaring bison on Sitkalidak Island, just off of Kodiak. Fast forward to this summer, and almost out of nowhere, a return trip was dialed up, but this time, helping Alaska Game and Fish with a new brown bear project. There was lot of scientific data to collect with the collars, but the plan was to better understand season/annual movements, population dynamics, resource utilization, and interactions/predation with other species sharing the landscape.

“This latest adventure with Dan Cabela and his Hard Truths team where we were on location with biologists from the Alaska Fish and Game for the radio-collaring, weighing, and health checks of Kodiak Island brown bears was nothing short of extraordinary,” said Luke Hilgemann, CEO of the International Order of T. Roosevelt.  “The rugged and wild landscapes and massive brown bears thriving in their natural habitats was the latest example of “hands on conservation” that Dan and his team bring to life for millions on their “Hard Truths of Conservation” series. We are honored to stand in the arena with Dan and his family’s foundation to bring these incredible stories to life.”

Follow along with Dan's and our Cabela Family Foundation social media pages, as we give you sneak peek at working with North America's largest predator! And look for the entire story to be told on a future episode of Hard Truths of Conservation, airing on Discovery and Animal Planet!
